How to treat abrasions at home
An abrasion is a small cut or scratch at the upper most layer of your skin. While most small abrasions are harmless, there is always a chance of infection of they are not attended to. However, running off to the nearest pharmacy every time you get a nick doesn’t make sense so here are some useful home remedies to treat abrasions and act as quick first aid:

- Apply some cayenne pepper to the wound. While this may burn a bit, it will stop any bleeding almost instantly!
- Applying a little bit of garlic oil is also an effective home remedy that prevents the skin from swelling up.
- Aloe Vera gel, often taken fresh from the plant, helps to soothe irritation caused by abrasions.
- Tea tree oil is natural anti-septic and can be used on small cuts to prevent infections.
- Crush marigold petals and leaves from parsley into a paste and apply them over wounds to heal them faster!
- Boil some tea leaves and cool the concoction down. Then pour this over a wound to reduce bacterial growth and prevent infections.
- Turmeric has long been known for its natural healing tendencies. Mix a bit of turmeric powder with boiled water and apply it over the wound. It’s a great natural anti-septic.
- Make a paste out of the leaves of dock and apply it over cuts and nicks. It helps to speed up the healing process!
- The oil of clove is a very strong anti-septic too. You can apply this over wounds to kill germs and bacteria and help it heal quicker. Beware though, it just might sting a bit!
